Jack C. Woodard, 67, 1643 Oak Hills, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1992, at St. Louis University Medical Center.

He was born May 11, 1925, at McClure, Ill., son of Henry and Ethel Morse Woodard. He and Bobbie Croy were married Feb. 25, 1950, in Lone Oak, Ark.

Woodard was a semi-pro baseball player many years, and coached the Khoury baseball team at McClure five years. He was a founder of McClure Booster Club, which is now the McClure Chamber of Commerce, and is still a member. He also helped organize Lindsey Cemetery Board.

He served on the regional board of education in Southern Illinois many years, served on the Shawnee School Board 15 years, past member of East Cape-McClure Water Board, member of McClure American Legion, and Cape Girardeau Country Club. He was a Republican precinct committeeman in McClure many years, and had refereed high school basketball many years.

Woodard was a past board member of Alexander County Draft Board and Civil Defense Board.

He was a fireman on Missouri Pacific Railroad four years, drove a bus for Shawnee School District five years, and was a transport driver with Mobil Oil Co. 27 years, retiring in February 1983.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Rev. Raymond Oxford, the Rev. Greg Morrison and Jerry Burchyett will officiate, with burial in Lindsey Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
