J. Hugh Smith

J. Hugh Smith, 74, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born June 24, 1934, in Kansas City, Mo., son of Randolph P. and Verna Mae Readdy Smith. He and Patricia Heath were married April 29, 1974, in Marble Hill.

Smith worked as a paralegal for R.P. Smith Attorneys at Law. He also worked in real estate and antique sales. He was a member of the American Organist Guild.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Craig Smith of Ozark, Mo., Paul Smith of Springfield, Mo.; two daughters, Susan Smith of Cape Girardeau, Ashley Smith of Dallas; a sister, Ann Young of New Braunfels, Texas; and two grandchildren.

Smith donated his body to Washington University School of Medicine.

There will be no service.

McCombs Funeral Home of Cape Girardeau was in charge of arrangements.
