J. Harl Tropf, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Heartland Care and Rehabilitation in Cape Girardeau. He was born May 11, 1909, at Advance, son of Jacob and Lora Jenkins Tropf. J. Harl Tropf, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Heartland Care and Rehabilitation in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 11, 1909, at Advance, son of Jacob and Lora Jenkins Tropf. He was married to Lena Delay, who died in February 1970. He and Aileen Daniel were married on Dec. 17, 1970 at Gurdon, Ark.

Tropf was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a retail merchant in Bell City and Advance for several years.

He was a member of the VFW in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Leamond Tropf of Bell City; two sisters, Alma Mashek and Helen Musgraves, both of Advance; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son and three brothers.

Friends may call at the Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel. The Rev. James Brice will officiate, with burial at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Advance.
