Ivan B. Summers, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at Missouri Veterans Home. He was born Aug. 23, 1921, in Gordonville, son of Wilson Bland and Addie Clara Hitt Summers. He had attended New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson. He was a lifetime farmer in the Gordonville community. He was a member of American Legion Post 158 in Jackson many years...

Ivan B. Summers, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born Aug. 23, 1921, in Gordonville, son of Wilson Bland and Addie Clara Hitt Summers. He had attended New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson. He was a lifetime farmer in the Gordonville community. He was a member of American Legion Post 158 in Jackson many years.

Summers served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 4, 1945, to Nov. 21, 1946.

Survivors include a sister, Marie Hoffman of Paducah, Ky.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home today from 4 to 8 p.m.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Cy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park, with military rites to be conducted by Missouri Honor Guard.
