Ivan C. Wagner, 73, 1417 Carter, died Monday, Oct. 7, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was born April 4, 1918, in Cape Girardeau, son of Ernst and Rosa Lee Whittaker Wagner. He and Dolores Thixton were married Dec. 7, 1941, in Yuma, Ariz. Wagner served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War, retiring in 1957. He then worked at the U.S. Post Office in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1973. He was a member of VFW Post 3838...

He was born April 4, 1918, in Cape Girardeau, son of Ernst and Rosa Lee Whittaker Wagner. He and Dolores Thixton were married Dec. 7, 1941, in Yuma, Ariz.

Wagner served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War, retiring in 1957. He then worked at the U.S. Post Office in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1973. He was a member of VFW Post 3838.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Roger Wagner of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Bonnie Ourth of Jackson; a brother, Lester Wagner of Sun City; a sister, Esther Reed of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Rev. Elwin Haseltine will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park. Graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
