DEXTER, Mo. -- Funeral for Iva Jo Sherfield Asbell of Dexter will be held at 2 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Doyle Corlew will officiate. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.
Asbell, 102, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at Crowley Ridge Care Center.
She was born Sept. 12, 1898, at Acorn Ridge, Mo., daughter of Henry and Eliza Christmas Hunt. She and Otis Sherfield were married Aug. 13, 1913. He died May 4, 1956. She later married Chester R. Asbell April 13, 1968. He died Dec. 25, 1983.
Asbell lived most of her life at Dexter. She was a member of Second General Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Norman and Russell Sherfield of Dexter; a daughter, Florine Dowdy of Dexter; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, two daughters, a grandchild, five brothers, and a sister.
