ANNISTON -- Funeral service for Irvin Wheatley of Anniston will be held at 1 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie. Martin Lucas will officiate, with burial in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
Wheatley, 64, died Monday, Oct. 2, 1995, at his home, following a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 18, 1931, in Anniston, son of Clyde and Fannie Griffith Wheatley. He and Doris Combs were married Dec. 4, 1950, in Piggott, Ark.
Wheatley was employed by Mississippi County Highway Department, and was a member of First Christian Church in East Prairie. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Dale Wheatley of Jackson; a brother, Shirley Wheatley of East Prairie, and a grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
