LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Irvin James VandeVen, 87, of Leopold died Monday, April 16, 2007, at his home.
He was born Jan. 24, 1920, near Leopold, son of George and Dina Tenholder VandeVen. He and Adeline Marie Jansen were married April 16, 1941. She died Nov. 14, 1991.
Mr. VandeVen was a farmer, a member of Knights of Columbus, SEMO Horseshoe Association, and member of St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold.
Survivors include two sons, Stanley (Elaine) Vandeven and Roger (Sheree) Vandeven of Leopold; two daughters, Wilma (Bob) Thele and Glenda (Art) Myracle of Jackson; a brother, Ray Vandeven of Festus, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Steve, Stan and Keith Beel of Marble Hill, Mo., Darrell and Donnie Vandeven of St. Joseph, La., Brad Vandeven of Leopold, Gwen Long of Marble Hill, Jill Begley of Delta, Sheila King of Jackson; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Adeline; a son, Donald Vandeven; a daughter, Thelma Beel; three brothers, Ben, Herman and Hubert; three sisters, Mary Ann Vandeven, Florence Stoverink, Gertie Jansen; and a grandson, Christopher Vandeven.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. today at St. John's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Bill Huggins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill is in charge of arrangements.
