Irma Roland Matvy, 87, of Scott City died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, peacefully at her home with her children, Mary Lynn Matvy of San Francisco, Calif., and Mike Matvy of Knoxville, Tenn., at her side. They were each holding a hand when she passed away...

Irma Roland Matvy, 87, of Scott City died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, peacefully at her home with her children, Mary Lynn Matvy of San Francisco, Calif., and Mike Matvy of Knoxville, Tenn., at her side. They were each holding a hand when she passed away.

She was born Aug. 1, 1916, at Malden, Mo., daughter of Marion Francis and Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Roland. She and Mike Matvy were married Nov. 23, 1939, in Illmo. He died March 11, 1983.

Mrs. Matvy served on the Diocesan Board of the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau, and served as president of St. Joseph Council of Catholic Women.

Survivors include a granddaughter, Rachel Marie Matvy, and a sister-in-law, Margaret Kies.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Daisy Likens and Pearlie May Roland, and two brothers, Normy and Homer Hampton.

Parish prayers will be held at 5:30 p.m. Good Friday, April 9, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, immediately followed by visitation until 8 p.m.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Holy Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

She will be greatly missed.
