IRMA DIGGS

CAIRO, Ill. -- Irma L. Diggs, 82, of Cairo, died Wednesday, April 17, 1996, at Daystar Care Center.

She was born Aug. 5, 1913, in Villa Ridge, daughter of George and Lucy Behrendt Clancy. She married Charles E. Diggs.

Diggs was a retired licensed practical nurse. She was a member of Tigert Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Ronald Diggs of Mounds; four daughters, Teresa Greer of Cairo, Doretta Verble of Cahokia, Ill., Jana Hannah of Dongola, Pamela Bernbaum of Memphis, Tenn.; four sisters, Edna Porter of Cairo, Doris Simmons of Mt. Vernon, Rosemary Jeffords of Metropolis, Betty Raines of Cahokia; a brother, Paul Clancy of El Segundo, Calif.; six grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo from 5-8 p.m. today, and Friday at Tigert Church from 9 a.m. to service time.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Kelly Cox officiating. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery at Mounds.
