Iris Ruth Sparks, 86, 3200 Kage Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born Jan. 1, 1912, in Union City, Ill., daughter of Julius Frank and Mathilda Barringer Karraker. She and Lloyd B. Sparks were married Dec. 24, 1937, at Benton. He died April 18, 1977.
Sparks had lived in Cape Girardeau since 1948. She was a former volunteer with Mid America Teen Challenge, and volunteer cook for senior citizens group. She was a member of White Shrine, Order of Eastern Star, and charter member of Cape Court Order of the Amaranth.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Sparks of Brookfield, Wis., Elizabeth Venable of Georgetown, Texas; a special friend, Floyd Vavak of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Revs. S.S. Borum and Mark Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
