WARDELL -- Funeral service for Iris Carolyn Maddox of Houston, Texas, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Oran. The Rev. Edward Maddox will officiate, with burial in Union Park Cemetery at Chaffee.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran after 4 p.m. Saturday.
Maddox, 61, died Friday, June 27, 1997, at Memorial Hospital in Houston.
She was born April 20, 1936, at Wardell, daughter of Walter Newman and Mary Elizabeth Edney Clark. She and James Paul Maddox were married June 4, 1954.
Maddox was a teacher 16 years with Spring Branch Independent School District. She was a member of College Park Baptist Church in Houston; National Association of Investors Corp.; Billionaires Under Construction Society; Counseling, Academic and Professional Honor Society International; and Christian Coalition.
Survivors include her husband; a son, James Maddox of Houston; a daughter, Sandra Chase of Cameron, Texas; her mother of Wardell; two brothers, Alvin Clark of Thayer, John Clark of St. Louis; two sisters, Mary Arbuckle of Wardell, Doris Dailey of Thayer; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
