Irene Concordia Steeg, 83, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Jackson, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at Fountainbleau Lodge. She was born Oct. 13, 1917, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Alexander Richard and Concordia Emma Kasten Boren. She and Lee Gus Steeg were married Oct. 29, 1937, in Cape Girardeau. He died Oct. 29, 1964...

Irene Concordia Steeg, 83, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Jackson, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at Fountainbleau Lodge.

She was born Oct. 13, 1917, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Alexander Richard and Concordia Emma Kasten Boren. She and Lee Gus Steeg were married Oct. 29, 1937, in Cape Girardeau. He died Oct. 29, 1964.

Mrs. Steeg attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School and was a graduate of Central High School. She worked at Florsheim Shoe Co. in Jackson 25 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson.

Survivors include a son, Lee Steeg Jr. of Jackson; two daughters, Janet M. Lowes of Cape Girardeau, Betty J. Crites of Sikeston, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Jeffery Eggimann, Barry Eggimann, Connie Brown, Cliff Harris, Gail Best, Tonya Crites, Leslie Mann and Jami Steeg; six great-grandchildren, Tyler Eggimann, Matt Brown, Jenny Brown, Kyle Morris, Laura Peterson and Ashlee Peterson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mrs. Glen (JerLee) Eggimann, May 11, 1999; and a brother, Aaron Boren in 1979.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel. The Rev. John H. Rice will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
