IRENE HUMPHREYS

ZALMA -- Irene Humphreys, 71, Zalma Route 2, died Tuesday, May 18, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 15, 1921, at McGee, daughter of T.B. and Effie Rowe Stilts. She and Fred H. Humphreys were married Feb. 8, 1945, in Corning, Ark. He died Aug. 8, 1990.

Humphreys was a teacher 34 years, having taught second grade at Zalma R-V Schools 27 years. She was a member of Abernathy Chapel Methodist Church near Arab.

Survivors include a son, Gerald Humphreys of St. Louis; a daughter, Kayla Huffman, Zalma Route 2; a sister, Wilma Mehrtens of Valmeyer, Ill., and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, brother and sister.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. The Rev. Keith Price will officiate, with burial in Bollinger County Memorial Park at Marble Hill.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. today.
