SIKESTON -- Irene Frances Kern, 78, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, April 22, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born May 12, 1913, at Fornfelt, daughter of Matt and Annie Rose Sweitzer Jungers. She and Alfred Paul Kern were married July 12, 1937, at Fornfelt. He died Jan. 10, 1968.
Kern was a cook 17 years at St. Francis Xavier School, a cook at Heritage House Nutrition Center here 14 years, and worked at the Dollar General Store. She was a member of St. Francis Church and Daughters of Isabella.
Survivors include two sons, Kenny Kern of Washington, Mo., Danny Kern of Bolckow; a brother, Robert Jungers of St. Charles; two sisters, Mary Smith of Florissant, and Lucille Hanna of Sikeston.
She was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Church. Msgr. William Stanton will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel after 4 p.m. today. A prayer service will be held at 7:30, followed by a Daughters of Isabella rosary.
