PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Irene M. Clifton, 81, of Perryville died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at Ratliff's Care Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Perry County, daughter of Charles and Imogene Cashion Winters. She and Howard Clifton were married Dec. 24, 1939, in Longtown, Mo. He died Sept. 4, 1996...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Irene M. Clifton, 81, of Perryville died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at Ratliff's Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Perry County, daughter of Charles and Imogene Cashion Winters. She and Howard Clifton were married Dec. 24, 1939, in Longtown, Mo. He died Sept. 4, 1996.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Methodist ladies auxiliary, VFW and American Legion auxiliary, the Eastern Star St. Mary's Chapter 338 OES and a charter member of the Perry County Democratic Women's Club.

Survivors include five sons, Ron Clifton of Cape Girardeau, Floyd Clifton of Essex, Mo., Harold and Roger Clifton of Perryville, Allen Clifton of Fort Benning, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville, with an Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be from 6:30 a.m. to service time Tuesday. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Jerry Willer officiating. Burial will be in Home Cemetery.
