MARBLE HILL -- Ira Hency Swofford, 76, of Marble Hill, died Sunday, April 30, 1995, at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 17, 1918, at Fredericktown, son of Thomas W. and Lilly Hency Swofford. He and Doris Boehm were married Aug. 18, 1956. She preceded him in death.
Swofford was a member of Trowell Lodge 440, VFW Post 5900, Plumbers Local 42, and St. Louis American Legion Post 302.
Survivors include a son, Terry Swofford of Marble Hill; a daughter, Linda Bellew of Festus; two sisters, Roberta Dauer of Imboden, Ark., Gladys Kuene of St. Louis, and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, brother and three sisters.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 5-8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30.
Funeral service will be at 1 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clifton Trentham officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park, with military graveside rites by VFW Post 5900.
