Iola Grissom

Iola V. Grissom, 88, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, May 23, 2008, at Capetown Assisted Living.

She was born March 30, 1920, near Warm Springs, Ark., daughter of the late Elvie and Josie (Davidson) Marlett. She was married to Cord Grissom, who preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1989.

Iola managed the delicatessen at Child's IGA for many years, and was an excellent cook. She was also a member of the Church of Christ.

Loving survivors include three daughters, Charlotte Hazen of Cape Girardeau, Brenda Lou May of Springfield, Mo., Mary K. Klingel and husband Charles of Berryville, Ark.; three grandchildren, Michael May and wife Brenda of Van Buren, Mo., Jonna Montileone and husband Tim of Springfield, Mo., Gayle Briner of Charlotte, N.C.; and five great-grandchildren, Cara Baker, Clayton Gonzalez, Madison Briner, Robert Briner and Tommy Montileone.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Billie Jean and Carol; two sisters, Jesse Green and Edith Dalton; and one brother, Emmett Marlett.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2008, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 26, 2008, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Housby officiating.

Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
