Inez Morrison

Inez M. Morrison, 102, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, May 29, 2011, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Nov. 19, 1908, in Bowen, Mo., to Cyrus and Mary Cartwright Hammond. She and Daniel K. Morrison were married June 30, 1931, in Edwardsville, Ill. He died in April 1958.

Mrs. Morrison graduated from East St. Louis High School and Brown's Business School. She was a secretary for American Zinc Co. in Sauget, Ill., retiring in 1971.

Inez moved to Cape Girardeau in 1990. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

Survivors include a grandson, James (Beth) Morrison of Normal, Ill.; a granddaughter, Elaine Cook of Fayetteville, Ark.; a daughter-in-law, Clara Morrison of Cape Girardeau; three great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, James D. Morrison March 31, 1994; and a sister.

Visitation will be from noon to service time today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Sullenger officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Mount Hope Cemetery in Belleville, Ill.

Memorial contributions may be given to Grace United Methodist Church or Teen Challenge International Mid-America.
