VANDUSER -- Funeral service for I.L. "Red" Burton of Vanduser will be held at 2 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Herbert Knight will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Burton, 71, died Monday, Dec. 7, 1992, at Veterans Hospital in Poplar Bluff.
He was born Aug. 18, 1921, in Dardanelle, Ark., son of Allen and Ethel Coffman Burton. He and Ruby Nichols were married April 18, 1946, at New Madrid.
Burton was a truck driver 42 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry Burton of East Lynne, James Burton of Bell City; two daughters, Shirley Richardson of Bell City, Barbara Anglin of Benton; his mother of Vanduser; two brothers, Merle Burton of Blodgett, Bill Burton of Vanduser; four sisters, Olive Holt of Port Hueneme, Calif., Jewell Barricks, Hazel Hargrove and Pearl Rhodes of Vanduser, and seven grandchildren.
