Ida Lee "Dee" Holbrook, 85, formerly of Salisbury, Mo. passed away at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau on Dec. 11, 2003.
She was born Aug. 11, 1918, in Callaway County, Mo., daughter of Earl Hallie and Lydia Pearl Hildebrand Underwood. She and Lester Holbrook were married Sept. 25, 1937, in Mexico, Mo. They were divorced.
She formerly worked in the family business at Salisbury, Holbrook Cleaners, and was a homemaker. She loved to fish, was an outstanding cook and was a rescuer of lost and injured animals.
Mrs. Holbrook moved to Cape Girardeau and was a resident of Fountainbleau Lodge for many years.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ronald Shoff of Cape Girardeau; a granddaughter, Laura Dodd Wilbur and her husband Nick Wilbur of Seattle, Wash.; a grandson and his wife, Robert L. and May Chu Dodd of Austin, Texas; and a great-granddaughter, Ariadne Elizabeth Dodd.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William Underwood. The body was cremated. Graveside services and burial will be in the Benton City Cemetery, Benton City, Mo., at a later date. Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
