PERRYVILLE -- Hubert Joseph Layton, 65, of Perryville, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 1991, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 10, 1924, in Detroit, Mich., son of Alonzo and Cora M. Smith Layton. His first wife, Mary Rose, died March 4, 1979. He then married Mildred Welge Nov. 12, 1982.
Layton was a retired retail grocer, and had formerly owned Northdale IGA here. He was a member of St. Vincent's Church, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, and American Legion Booster.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Joyce Hennemann, Diane Schumer and Vicki Wingerter of Perryville, Linda Hoffman of Maryland Heights; two sons, Gary Layton of Perryville, Ron Layton of Marble Hill; his mother of Perryville; a stepdaughter, JoAnn Draves of Cocoa, Fla.; a stepson, Joe Tindall of Chester, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild, and seven stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and granddaughter.
Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home from 3-9 p.m. today. A wake service will be held at 7:30.
Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent's Church. The Rev. Edward Wilson will officiate, with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
