JACKSON -- Howard King, 80, of Jackson died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1993, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 30, 1912, at Neely's Landing, the son of Alfred and Ira Bethany McCain King. On Dec. 6, 1941, he married Catherine Headrick, who survives of the home.
He was a truck driver for the former Kelso Oil Co. and J.D. Street Oil Co. from 1948 until his retirement in 1977. He was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson and a former member of local union #574. He also was a foster parent for 22 years.
Other survivors include two sons, Robert Charles King and Gene King, both of Jackson; a daughter, Beth Tucker of Jackson; a brother, Charles King of Cape Girardeau; two foster daughters, Dorothy Gribler of Jackson and Jeanette Roth of Frohna; four grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; a number of foster grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a foster daughter.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson, where funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Otto Steinhaus and the Rev. Nancy Woods will officiate, and burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
