EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Howard Irby, 73, of East Prairie died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at his home.
He was born Sept. 19, 1927, in the Whiting community near East Prairie, son of James U. and Treva Kate Milam Irby. He and Rosemary Morris were married Feb. 24, 1986.
Irby was retired from Missouri Department of Transportation. He was a member of First Baptist Church in East Prairie and Charleston Masonic Lodge AF&AM.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Tim Irby of East Prairie, Jim Irby of New Madrid, Mo., Steve Irby of Louisville, Ky.; two daughters, Teresa Tollison of Indianapolis, Ind., Barbara Bennett of St. Louis; a sister, Lucille Hager of East Prairie; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Frank Cayson and Jon Archie officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.
