Howard Wayne Barnes, 76, of Pine Bluff, Ark., died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born on Nov. 10, 1922, at Pittsburgh, Pa., son of Wayne Alfred and Amelia Caroline Meyer Barnes.
He married Emma Frye on June 18, 1948, in Scottdale, Pa. She died in 1991.
He then married Marie Wooden. She died in April 1999.
He graduated from the University of Iowa with an electrical engineering degree. He served in the Navy in the Pacific during World War II.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pine Bluff where he served as a deacon.
He worked as an engineer for Central Moloney in Pine Bluff for many years before retiring in 1985.
He was a volunteer with the Committee Against Spouse Abuse Women's Shelter and the American Field Service.
He is survived by a son, Dean H. Barnes of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Beverly Ann Barnes Rust of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Claire Cortright of Pittsburgh; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home in Pine Bluff.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church at Pine Bluff.
The Rev. Jeff Price will officiate. Burial will be in Bellwood Cemetery.
