SIKESTON -- Hontas Lee Schade, 85, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, April 6, 1994, at her home.
She was born Oct. 31, 1908, in Sikeston, daughter of James R. and Gertrude Lee. She married Leo L. Schade July 6, 1941. He preceded her in death.
Schade was a secretary at Scott County Milling Co. 13 years prior to her marriage. The Schades lived in Jackson more than 40 years, where she was secretary and reporter at the Cape County Post, a weekly newspaper they owned. They sold the business (now the Cash-Book Journal) and moved to Sikeston in 1963.
She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and served as secretary 10 years, member and secretary several years of Lutheran Women's Missionary League, and member of Meadow Lane Garden Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Short of Kentfield, Calif.; a sister, Mary Carroll of Sikeston, and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Concordia Church, with the Rev. Robert Kriete officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.
