Homer E. Walker, 88, of Blodgett, Mo., died Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at his home.
He was born Jan. 29, 1921, in Detroit, son of Frank and Willie Davis Walker. He and Margaret Purifoy were married May 12, 1984, in Marble Hill, Mo. She died Nov. 27, 2008.
Walker spent his early years in Burfordville. He was a member of County Line Baptist Church of Marble Hill. He worked several years at the former Marquette Cement Co. in Cape Girardeau and then was employed by the former Frisco Railroad (Burlington Northern) until retirement. During his retirement he worked part time at Builders Supply in Marble Hill.
Walker served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and attained the rank of staff sergeant.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin Walker of Marble Hill, Barry Walker of Scott City; a daughter, Susie Upchurch of Marble Hill; a stepson, Scott Spellman of Blodgett; two stepdaughters, Lisa Lauryn of Sikeston, Mo., Shannon Busch of O'Fallon, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
There is no visitation or service.
McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
