MARBLE HILL -- Homer L. Garner, 76, died Monday, Dec. 18, 1995 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 8, 1919, at Sank, son of Jonah and Myrtle Angel Garner. On Nov. 14, 1937, he married Verna Whitehead, who died March 1, 1991.
He was a former member of the Zalma School Board and served for 13 years as an associate Bollinger County commissioner. He attended Balch Chapel and was a member of the Bollinger County Co-op and Zalma Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include three daughters, Marie Kelso of Advance, Betty Rhodes of Florissant and Wilma Watts of Advance; two brothers, Troy Garner of Advance and Leonard Garner of Zalma; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, where funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Ethel Myers will officiate, and burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
