Hollis Henderson

OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Hollis Dwight Henderson, 68, of Olive Branch passed away at 11:28 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

Hollis was born in Alexander County, Illinois, on Dec. 16, 1947, to Martie and Anna (Bledsoe) Henderson.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Hollis worked as a truck driver and in the farming industry. He was a fisherman, a hunter, a lover of horses and a collector of antique horse-drawn farm implements. Above all else, his favorite description was that of "Dad" and "Paw Paw."

He is survived by his son, Marty Allen Henderson, and his daughter, Carrie Ann George, both of Cape Girardeau, and a granddaughter, Kaylie Elizabeth George, also of Cape Girardeau. He also is survived by two sisters, Gloria (Frank) Curley of Columbia, Missouri, and Cathy Hoban of Tuckahoe, New York, and four brothers, Wayne (Dawn) Henderson of Amboy, Illinois, Wally (Mikey) Henderson of Sarasota, Florida, David (Ivy) Henderson of Olive Branch and Steven Henderson of Olive Branch.

Hollis was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alfred and William "Bill" Henderson; a sister, Charlotte Henderson; and his grandson, Jerrod Hollis Henderson.

Visitation for Hollis Henderson will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Illinois.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Buckles officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery in Alexander County.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Zion Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
