Hobert Deon Hanners, 62, of Jackson passed away Thursday, May 1, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 9, 1941, in Cape Girardeau County, son of John D. and Maude A. Moore Hanners. He and Mary Slinkard were married Jan. 22, 1965.
Deon was a self-employed painter the past 30 years and had done much work for local contractors. He previously worked at the former International Shoe Co. and Lincoln and McBride Paint and Aluminum Co. in Jackson. He was of Pentecostal belief.
Loving survivors include his wife; two daughters, Dawn Lucas and Tammy Hanners; two grandsons, Justin and Nathan Shumpert, all of Cape Girardeau; his father of Commerce, Mo.; two brothers, Buck Hanners of Commerce, Johnny Hanners of St. Louis; three sisters, Sue Miller of Millersville, Linda LeGrand of Oran, Mo., and Wendy Farrow of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Newell officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
