COBDEN, Ill. -- Hildegarde Lamer, 92, of Cobden died Monday, Nov. 17, 1997, at the Abbey in Carbondale. She was born July 12, 1905, in East St. Louis, daughter of John and Sophia Vitt Sweitzer. She and John L. Lamer were married April 19, 1923, in Cobden. He died June 19, 1970...

COBDEN, Ill. -- Hildegarde Lamer, 92, of Cobden died Monday, Nov. 17, 1997, at the Abbey in Carbondale.

She was born July 12, 1905, in East St. Louis, daughter of John and Sophia Vitt Sweitzer. She and John L. Lamer were married April 19, 1923, in Cobden. He died June 19, 1970.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Norton of Alto Pass, Donna Leming of Carbondale; two sons, Marvin Lamer of Carbondale, David Lamer of Anna; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden after 6 p.m. today. A rosary service will be held.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Federico Higuera officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
