Hilda Hoffmeister, 97, of Jackson passed away Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at her home.
She was born Jan. 24, 1917, near Delta, daughter of Henry and Lena Sievers Thoma. She and Edwin Hoffmeister were married Oct. 12, 1940. He passed away July 10, 1963.
Hilda was baptized Feb. 11, 1917, at Trinity Methodist Church, formerly Dreiengreits Evangelical Church of Whitewater, which was built by her grandfather, Adam Thoma. She was confirmed March 3, 1933, at Zion Methodist Church of Gordonville.
She became a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson in 1940. She moved to Jackson in 1986 from the family farm in Fruitland. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and church events.
Loving survivors include two sons, Lloyd Hoffmeister and Larry (Dixie) Hoffmeister of Jackson; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two granddaughters.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Mindy Kiepe and Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
