OLD APPLETON, Mo. -- Hilda M. Bodenschatz, 90, passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born Jan. 29, 1912, at Wittenberg, Mo., daughter of Theodore and Laura Roth Boehme. She and Ervin J. Bodenschatz were married Oct. 27, 1935. He preceded her in death March 10, 2002...

OLD APPLETON, Mo. -- Hilda M. Bodenschatz, 90, passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 29, 1912, at Wittenberg, Mo., daughter of Theodore and Laura Roth Boehme. She and Ervin J. Bodenschatz were married Oct. 27, 1935. He preceded her in death March 10, 2002.

Mrs. Bodenschatz was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church at Uniontown, Mo. She was a charter member of LWML, having served the organization as a two-term vice president and two terms as chairperson of the Mite Box Committee.

Hilda was faithful in her prayer life and had a unique way of encouraging others through her prayers on their behalf.

Loving survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Sandy Bodenschatz of St. Louis, Ted and Beth Bodenschatz of Alpharetta, Ga.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Jack Mirly and Janet and Harlen Weber, all of Jackson; three brothers, Elmer Boehme of Shawneetown, George Boehme of Bethel Park, Pa., Herbert Boehme of DeSoto, Mo.; four sisters, Sara Roth, Irma Roth, Dorothy Steffens and Paula Steffens, all of St. Louis; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Oscar and Edwin Boehme, and two sisters, Flora Kassel and Thelma Miesner.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and Thursday after 9 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Paul Winningham officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Grace Lutheran Endowment Fund or to Saxony Lutheran High School.
