EAST PRAIRIE -- Hershel L. Jackson, 69, of East Prairie, died Tuesday, April 2, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, following an extended illness.
He was born May 28, 1926, in New Madrid County, son of Dan and Jessie French Jackson. He married Louannia Bright, who died Jan. 13, 1982. He later married Cora Ann Wilson Feb. 19, 1985.
Jackson was a laborer with Local 282 in Cape Girardeau, and member of First General Baptist Church here. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Linda Weikhem of Rapid City, S.D.; a stepdaughter, Lowella Hale of Yarkley, Pa.; three stepsons, Billy Jackson of Glasgow, Ky., Franklin Jackson of St. Louis, Harold Jackson of Saginaw, Mich.; two brothers, Russell Jackson of East Prairie, Louis Jackson of Jackson, Miss.; a sister, Mable Figley of Paducah, Ky.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren, and 17 great-stepgrandchildren.
Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Bob Williams and Ernest Brown officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
