JACKSON, Mo. -- Herold S. Adams, 81, died Monday, May 6, 2002, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau. He was born Feb. 10, 1921, at Pocahontas, Mo., son of Archie and Elsie Moore Adams. He and Ethlyn Albright were married May 24, 1947. She died Sept. 22, 1989. He and Betty Beard-Bonney were married Nov. 27, 1995...

JACKSON, Mo. -- Herold S. Adams, 81, died Monday, May 6, 2002, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 10, 1921, at Pocahontas, Mo., son of Archie and Elsie Moore Adams. He and Ethlyn Albright were married May 24, 1947. She died Sept. 22, 1989. He and Betty Beard-Bonney were married Nov. 27, 1995.

Adams was a graduate of Midwest Bible School in St. Louis, Iowa Wesleyan College, and the University of Iowa.

He was a teacher in Lowell, Iowa, principal several years in Eddyville, Iowa, and taught in Christian school systems in Louisville, Ky., and Memphis, Tenn. He retired in 1986 and moved to Jackson, where he was a substitute teacher.

Adams was a member of Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 6, 1942, to March 29, 1946.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Donna Brown of Muscatine, Iowa; a son, Darrel Adams of Cape Girardeau; a stepdaughter, Leslie McHughs of Thebes, Ill.; two stepsons, Robert and Bill Bonney of Jackson; three brothers, John and Rusby Adams of Jackson, Donald Adams of Cape Girardeau; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Pringle officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
