Hermine Wachter, 81, of Jackson passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010, at her home. She was born Sept. 25, 1928, near Frankfurt, Germany, daughter of Hermann and Anna Ortwine Pfluger. She and Norman Wachter were married Feb. 14, 1961. Hermine worked five years at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill, and then provided quality child care in her home 40 years until retiring due to failing health...

Hermine Wachter, 81, of Jackson passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010, at her home.

She was born Sept. 25, 1928, near Frankfurt, Germany, daughter of Hermann and Anna Ortwine Pfluger. She and Norman Wachter were married Feb. 14, 1961.

Hermine worked five years at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill, and then provided quality child care in her home 40 years until retiring due to failing health.

A devoted wife, mother and friend, she truly enjoyed her family, friends and the children she cared for. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

Loving survivors include her husband of 49 years; a daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Tony Pogue of Jackson; two grandsons, Mitchell and Christian Pogue; a brother, Heinrich Pfluger of Ober Semen, Germany; and three nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from 4 to service time Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southeast Hospice or the charity of your choice.
