SCOTT CITY -- Herman P. Hitt, 62, of Scott City, died Friday, Sept. 23, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 13, 1932, son of Grover B. and Esther E. Snider Hitt. He and Peggy Gross were married Aug. 8, 1958.
Hitt was self-employed as a farmer in the Commerce area for 45 years. He was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Commerce where he served as a board chairman and was a member of the PCA Committee. He was a member of the ASCS Committee, the Kelly Board of Education, The Commerce Cemetery Board, the Democratic Committee of Commerce Township, Masonic Temple 672 and Eagles Club 4178 of Cape Girardeau.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Wayne Hitt, San Francisco, Calif.; one daughter, Laura Hitt, Kelso; three brothers, Cecil Hitt, Cape Girardeau, Roby Hitt, Scott City, and Paul Leroy Hitt, Springfield; and three sisters, Leatha Rister, Blodgett, Myrtle Reed, Bethalto, Ill., and Marie Stalon, Okemos, Mich.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Friends may call today from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. The Rev. Don Kuehle and the Rev. Jim King will officiate. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery at Commerce.
