CHARLESTON -- Herman McElmurry, 74, of Charleston died Saturday, May 15, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 3, 1925, at Charleston, son of Walter and Sadie Curry McElmurry.

He and the former Leanna Yarber were married.

McElmurry served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the East Prairie Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors include his wife of Charleston; three sons, Albe A. Carter and Herman McElmurry of Cape Girardeau and John McElmurry of Tempe, Ariz.; four daughters, Marilyn Carter of Bellevue, Ill., Helen Pearson of Baton Rouge, La., Marlena Conner and Patricia Wilson of Cape Girardeau; a brother, M.C. Moore of St. Louis; 30 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sparks Funeral Home in Charleston.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
