JACKSON -- Herman Lee Hardy, 75, died at the Hospitality House in Bloomington, Ind., Monday, May 27, 1996.

He was born Sept. 11, 1920, at Chaffee, son of the Rev. Samuel H. and Carrie Stamps Hardy. He married Doris Illers March 28, 1943.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Force.

He retired from Wetterau Foods and from Indiana University, where he was a draftsman and estimator for the engineering department.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bloomington. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 22, Scottish Rite, and the Murat Shrine Temple. He also was a member of the Burton-Woorely American Legion Post in Bloomington.

He lived in Jackson for a number of years, and in 1967 moved to Bloomington.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Marsha Easton of Bloomington; stepmother, Veda Mae Oliver of Dexter; a sister, Laddie Mae Smith of Dexter; and three stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the New McKendree Methodist Church with the Rev. O. David Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
