Herman Michael Delgado, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born March 19, 1931, in New York City, New York, to John and Cruz Delgado.
He and Sally Gayle Williams were married April 6, 1957, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
He served in the Army as a 101st Airborne Ranger.
He was a biology teacher at Forest Park Community College, retiring in 1991. In retirement, he was a founder, training officer and firefighter with the Leatherwood-Brownfield-Short Creek Volunteer Fire Department in Dover, Tennessee. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Family includes his two sons, Michael (Laura) Delgado of Cape Girardeau and Terry Delgado of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; two daughters, Michele (the late Charles) Burgess of Whiteville, Tennessee, and Teresa Delgado of Clearwater, Florida; and six grandchildren, Jason, Amanda, Mark, Derek, Cody and Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sally Delgado; a sister, Felecita Delgado, and two brothers: John Delgado and Gene Delgado. He is survived by his brother, Joe Delgado of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Bobby Manso officiating.
Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri, with full military honors.
Memorial contributions may be given to VFW Post 3838 Relief Fund.
