PERRYVILLE -- Herbert L. Schlattman, 89, of Perryville died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at Riverview Manor Nursing Home in Ste. Genevieve.
He was born Aug. 16, 1908, in Perryville, son of William and Justine May Schlattman. He and Beulah Joan Walker were married Oct. 3, 1930. She died Feb. 7, 1990.
Schlattman had been a postmaster at Perryville Post Office. He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church, St. Vincent's Alumni Association, Holy Name Society, past president of Missouri Postmaster Association, past scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 250 and received the Silver Beaver Award.
He was a 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 1263, and former past grand knight, faithful navigator, council financial secretary, and state deputy. He also held numerous offices in civic organizations.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Uding of Ste. Genevieve, Sally Berkbuegler of St. Louis; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 2-9 p.m. Sunday, and Monday from 6:30-9:40 a.m. A KC service and parish wake will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent's Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
