Herbert Rauh

Herbert Paul Rauh, 4729 Rowe Drive, New Port Richey, Fla., 34653, died Sunday, May 23, 2004.

Herb was the third son of Herbert M. and Ida Stueve Rauh, born in Cape Girardeau July 12, 1944. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Jackson; confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Pocahontas; and attended school in Jackson.

On July 9, 1966, Herb and Mia Esposito were married in New Haven, Conn. Herb and Mia have two children, Paul Robert and Anne Carmel. Paul is married to Lanette and they have three children, Nicole, Jacob and Jordan. Anne is married to Sheehan Mars and they have two sons, Xander and Avery.

Herb spent four years in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam veteran. He then did six years of Naval Reserves before joining the U.S. Coast Guard. Herb proudly served his country 27 years, retiring in 1992, achieving the rank of chief petty officer.

In addition to his wife and children, Herb leaves many loving friends and relatives. Among those are his brothers, Charles and Eileen of Perryville, Mo., John and Ruth of Jackson; a sister, Barbara and Ray Powell of Pocahontas; a sister-in-law, Beverly Rauh of Jackson; and Sal and Sue Esposito of New Haven.

In addition to his siblings, he leaves behind David and Debby Stueve of Wittenberg, Mo., Shannon and Chris Hardy of Jackson, and Jim Macke of Perryville. Herb's aunts and uncle, Elsie and Norris Boren of New Wells, and Esther Macke of Cape Girardeau also survive.

Herb was preceded in death by his parents; his youngest brother, Robert Rauh of Jackson; and dearest friend, Frank Leone of Hudson, Fla.

Visitation was held Thursday at Michels and Lundquist Funeral Home, 5228 Trouble Creek Road, New Port Richey.

The funeral Mass will be held today at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Interment will follow at National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.

The family requests memorials be made to the American Lung Association for Sarcoidosis Research.
