SIKESTON -- Herbert Guy Denton, 86, of Sikeston, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 1991, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 6, 1905, at Barlow, Ky., son of Ernest Steven and Myrtle Major Denton. He and Maudie Abernathy were married Jan. 8, 1969, at Raytown.
Denton had resided in Sikeston 18 years. He formerly lived in Kentucky and Kansas City. He was a retired ironworker, and had worked in the construction business 32 years.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bob Denton of Spanish Fort, Utah, Allen Denton of Blue Island, Ill., Danny Denton of Sikeston; two daughters, Gail Mayer and Carolyn Hardin of Sikeston; a stepson, Bobby Joe Montgomery of Oran; three stepdaughters, Peggy Chapman of Sikeston, Diana Johnson of Vanduser, Linda Meals of Morley; a brother, Marvin Denton of La Center, Ky.; 22 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
A stepson, brother and sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel after 5 tonight.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Billie Butler will officiate, with burial in New Morley Cemetery.
