Henry A. Montgomery, 88, 1807 N. West End Boulevard, died Monday, March 31, 1997, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

He was born May 19, 1908, in Greenville, Miss., son of Samuel and Patty Robertson Montgomery. He and Maxine Hansel were married March 11, 1949, in Cape Girardeau.

Montgomery worked for Sherwin-Williams many years and had been a manager at the Cape Girardeau store. After retiring he worked 13 years in the business office at Southeast Missouri State University, retiring in 1977.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a former deacon, and was active in Boy Scouting many years. He was an air operations specialist in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Malcolm Montgomery of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Patty Orr of Clarksville, Tenn.; a brother, John Montgomery of Jackson, Miss.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and four half sisters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 6-8 p.m. today, and Wednesday from 8:30-9:15 a.m.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Brendan Dempsey officiating. Burial will be in Old Apple Creek Cemetery near Pocahontas.
