HENRY HELMS

EAST PRAIRIE -- Henry Helms, 96, of East Prairie died Saturday, Aug. 10, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston after an extended illness.

He was born Oct. 22, 1989, in Sassafrass Ridge, Mo., in New Madrid County, son of Walter Samuel and Mary Ella Mitchell Helms.

He married Norma Aldridge on Oct. 9, 1933. She died Oct. 5, 1988.

Helms had lived in Mississippi County most of his life, where he was a retired custodian for the East Prairie High School. He was a member of the First General Baptist Church in East Prairie.

He is survived by three sons: Otis Lee Helms of Creve Coueur, Ill., Beuford Eugene Helms of Choctaw, Okla., and Joe Donald Helms of East Prairie; one sister, Anna Hult of Minneapolis, Minn.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, two sisters and one brother.

Visitation is today after 5 p.m. at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.

Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Brother Bob Williams, pastor of the First General Baptist Church of East Prairie, officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
