Henry J. Fels, 78, of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 27, 1926, in Leopold, Mo., son of John Henry and Anna Koesman Fels. He worked for Spartech, the former Atlas Plastics, as a machine operator. While in the Army during World War II, he served in Okinawa and Korea. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral of Cape Girardeau and VFW Post 3838.
He and Alena M. Wubker were married July 19, 1952, in Leopold. She survives.
Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Karen Fels of Cape Girardeau; and two granddaughters, Courtney and Cassie Fels. He is also survived by a sister, Marie Staley, and a nephew, Robert Staley, both of San Jose.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, with parish prayers at 5 p.m.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
The family requests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or Notre Dame Regional High School.
