Henry B. Creighton, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, March 17, 2006, at Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born Dec. 8, 1919, in Venice, Ill., son of Dewey and Myrtle Hudson Creighton. He and Marie Clemons were married March 31,1946, in Madison, Ill.

Mr. Creighton grew up in Venice, attended Madison High School, and attained an architectural license in Missouri and Illinois. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1949 and worked for Fred Dormeyer Architects more than 20 years. Then he had his own practice until he retired.

He was a member of Cape Choraliers, Breakfast Optimist, St. Mark's Masonic Lodge 98, and VFW Post 3838, past member of the Golden Troopers and American Legion Post 63. He taught music and played in various dance bands through the years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Creighton of Cape Girardeau; four daughters, Linda Hornback and husband Joe of Jackson, Janet Ervin and husband Louie of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Donna Mullins and husband Jack of Fredericksburg, Va., Denise Mason and husband Dennis of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Lewis Creighton of Decatur, Ill.; two sisters, Sylvia Winters and Doris Schmidt of Granite City, Ill.; six grandsons and two granddaughters; eight great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, with Masonic service at 7.

The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Scott Moon officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park, with graveside rites by Missouri Honors Team and VFW Post 3838.
