DEXTER -- Henry Carter, 74, of Dexter died Monday, July 14, 1997, at his home. He was born July 26, 1922, at Ellsinore, son of James O. and Dora Ketcherside Carter. He and Dorothy Hester were married June 13, 1941, at Bloomfield. Carter lived in Michigan 17 years, where he was an electrician at General Motors in Pontiac. He moved to Dexter in 1983, and was a member of Sugar Tree General Baptist Church near Bernie. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II...

DEXTER -- Henry Carter, 74, of Dexter died Monday, July 14, 1997, at his home.

He was born July 26, 1922, at Ellsinore, son of James O. and Dora Ketcherside Carter. He and Dorothy Hester were married June 13, 1941, at Bloomfield.

Carter lived in Michigan 17 years, where he was an electrician at General Motors in Pontiac. He moved to Dexter in 1983, and was a member of Sugar Tree General Baptist Church near Bernie. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jack Carter of DeSoto; three daughters, Henryetta James of Clarkston, Mich., Nettie Carns of Union Lake, Mich., DeEtta Richardson of Highland, Mich.; a brother, Irvon Carter of Dexter; two sisters, Ira Abbott and Myrtle McGowen of Dexter; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Dean Williams and Ernie Grim officiating. Burial will be in Hagy Cemetery.
