JACKSON -- Henry Biester, 95, of Jackson, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 1991, at Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born April 17, 1896, at Burfordville, son of August and Helene Nagel Biester. He first married Lydia Meier Nov. 16, 1919, who died March 12, 1921. He then married Fay Philipps May 29, 1925, who died Aug. 18, 1974. He and Edna Best were married Sept. 26, 1975. She died Jan. 7, 1988.
Biester had been a blacksmith at Tilsit and Burfordville, farmed, worked on highway construction, and was a tractor mechanic at the former Gowin Implement Co. in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1961.
He was a member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post here, and had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church 25 years. He was a veteran of World War I.
Survivors include two sons, Jay G. Biester of Whitewater, Melvin Biester of Jackson; three daughters, Elvira Best of Jackson, Alberta Wilke and Millicent Fluegge of Cape Girardeau; 17 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, sister, three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Lawrence Eatherton will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today. An American Legion honor guard service will be held at 7:30.
