ORAN -- Henderson Howard, 92, of Montgomery City, formerly of Oran, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1992, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. ORAN -- Henderson Howard, 92, of Montgomery City, formerly of Oran, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1992, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 22, 1899, at Old Appleton, son of George Washington and Juliet Cotner Howard. He and Rosa Lee Moser were married July 5, 1924. She died in 1986.

Howard was a retired cattle farmer, retiring in 1980. The Howards moved to Montgomery City in 1951 from the Oran area. He was a member of the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Montgomery City.

Survivors include three sons, Henderson Howard Jr. of Estacada, Ore., F. Donald Howard of Huntsville, Ala., Dennis Howard of San Antonio, Texas; four daughters, Phyllis Altenthal of Montgomery City, Mabel Daugherty of Oran, Katherine Curless of Los Altos, Calif., Clarice Ewing of Warrensburg; 23 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Oran. The Rev. John Gregory will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park at Cape Girardeau.
